Hello and Happy Fall Everyone! This is definitely my busiest time of year and one of my favorite seasons. I have been busy crocheting away, attending shows, and catching up on new orders, as well as my usual daily duties around the house, taking care of the family and tending to the garden. It's been over a month since my previous post, so I felt I should take a moment to catch everyone up on what's been going on. To start, we've been celebrating all the family birthdays this fall. My oldest just celebrated her 5th birthday this month - my, how time flies! We are getting ready to celebrate Halloween (my favorite holiday) and I'm excited to see my girls in their costumes (Frozen, of course). Thankfully, they will have their Frozen hats ready for Halloween night as it is expected to snow/rain here! You can always tell when it's Halloween in Northern Nevada - the weather always turns cold, and usually not a day sooner. |
Since the weather is starting to turn, I was able to get what was left of the more tender fruits and veggies out of the garden finally. Our garden was not as prosperous as I had hoped it would be this year, but we did still get quite a bit. It did very well for green beans, onions, garlic, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, marigolds, parsley, catnip, and sunflowers. Not so well for any of the squash varieties, corn, peppers, cilantro, basil, radishes, or berry varieties. Next year I will definitely be adjusting the crop rotation to make sure we have better production. Here's a little peek at our garden from this year:
As I mentioned before, I have been quite busy with the shows and orders. My next 2 craft fairs coming up are Christmas in the Valley and the Indie Reno Holiday Show, both in November. These are such great shows, I'm excited for them! So, needless to say, I've been trying to crochet like a mad woman to get as many hats and headbands made as possible for them. I've also been part of a great new group, Addicted to Sock Knitting (ASK). I have been fortunate enough to "meet" another local through facebook (we have yet to actually meet in person, but I'm hoping that will change soon), and the owner of ASK. I'm now part of her monthly Sock Kits (available here) and have an ad in her new EZine! And finally, because my Ice Queen & Princess hats have become so popular, especially on Pinterest, I am currently writing/testing the pattern for the hats and they will be available very soon! I'm so excited to get them out to you all! |
